Conversations: Colleen Levy – Jewellery Dreaming
Five months ago
This week we sat down with Colleen Levy, jewellery designer and founder of Jewellery Dreaming to share her recent experience working with Holy Cow! Creative.
Tell us about Jewellery Dreaming
Jewellery Dreaming is the product of my jewellery passion and obsession. I have been collecting jewellery for many years and started my Instagram account to photograph and share my personal style and collection with other jewellery lovers. Over the years, I have organically built a strong following of like-minded ‘jewellery addicts’ who I enjoy interacting with, and have continued to share my ever-evolving collection.
It felt like the right time to take the next step for Jewellery Dreaming and therefore, I wanted to create a website where I could give the brand a ‘voice’ and introduce some new pieces that I have been working on with my ‘Happy Tears’ collection.
What creative services were you looking for and why did you choose Holy Cow!?
I was looking to have my website designed and built. I chose Holy Cow! because they originally designed my Jewellery Dreaming logo which I love. I also admired their other work and felt that they would be best suited to creating a beautiful, user-friendly and functional website.
How did Holy Cow! execute your vision? Please describe your experiences.
My main vision for the website was to create an organic blend of my personal Instagram style with new written content. I wanted the page to be visually appealing and instantly recognisable to any of my Instagram followers. From the very first meeting with Holy Cow!, we discussed in detail the look and feel of the site and the importance of having it incorporate the look of my Instagram account.
My experience with Holy Cow! has been fantastic. I am very organised and meticulous in nature and always felt like everything was ‘running to plan’. I received a detailed timeline of every phase, when it was going to happen, what was needed from me and when. I was able to have the jewellery line and other photos for the website photographed on-site and the whole process was stress-free and simple. The whole team have been a dream to work with.
How have your audience responded to your new website?
I have received fantastic feedback and very positive comments, which is great. As the site evolves and more is added, it will be exciting to see the reaction from everyone.
You have such a great following on Instagram – how has your business evolved through the use of social media?
Jewellery Dreaming started as an outlet for my hobby and jewellery addiction. The business has evolved as I was consistently asked for more information about my collection and requests to purchase pieces. I love showing new designs, pieces that I have acquired and I also love to highlight jewels that I am desperate to add to my collection.
Has the removal of ‘likes’ impacted your Instagram page at all?
No, not at all. I actually like every photo that I post (as I have taken each individual photo personally) and I have never removed a post because it didn’t get many likes. I think it’s really important to stay true to your own style and more importantly, true to yourself. I am very confident in what I like when it comes to jewellery, therefore if I post something and it doesn’t get many likes, it doesn’t matter to me… because I still like it! Likewise, when I scroll through Instagram, I never like photos because of how many likes they have – I like it if the photo is a good one.
What’s next for Jewellery Dreaming?
More blog posts on my jewellery antics as well some posts highlighting local and international jewellery designers. I will also be introducing some more pieces to my Happy Tears range – stay tuned!
